What's in your remote tech stack?
Virtually every field is exploring technology use in hopes of bringing efficiency to their daily task performance - including the construction industry. Gone are the days where pen, paper, and Excel are the only tools available for those who spend the majority of their time in the office.
With the existence of the remote technology and the cloud, there is less reason to print out documents in bulk for people to look at once, and then potentially just throw away. If you and your team are in the process of building a more tech-savvy system of work, here are 3 tools to consider implementing:
The Standard and Advanced plans are made specifically for team use. Depending on the tier of your Dropbox Business plan, you have a certain number of users that can access the company file-sharing system. However, these users can also access these files on an unlimited number of devices with a single username.
If you’re wanting to share files with someone outside of your team’s Dropbox instance, you can as long as their plan’s quota allows. For example, if you’re sending a PDI report to a homeowner via Dropbox, if they can only receive a certain amount of files, it will take that into account.
This Toronto-based tool has taken the workforce by storm. It makes it easy for teams, no matter the size, to openly communicate their ideas on a 1-to-1, 1-to-many, or full team level. There are a ton of integrations available that allow teams to truly make the workspace their own. It’s not a replacement for the current project management tools that people are using, but it works well alongside whatever tools you’re already comfortable with. You can also use it to share files from Dropbox and Google Drive, amongst other file-sharing software. Overall, their goal is to help your team save time and better collaborate.
3. Bridgit Bench
This is a shameless plug, but just roll with it. Since our inception, Bridgit has focused on making construction less complicated for those working on the job site. Now, we’re back with a new tool that’s aiming to do the same for people focused on the operations side of things.
Introducing Bridgit Bench.
With this construction-specific resource planning tool, you can take your team to the next level. See everything from job titles, to availability, to projects assigned in the foreseeable future. Optimize your workforce and keep people off the bench if they should be in the game. (See what we did there)?
Easily enter or import all of your employees into the Bridgit Bench app. Just one tap, and you’ll be able to see each employee’s past and current projects, along with overlapping workload issues.
Team project planning
Create custom allocation based on the labour requirements you’re trying to fulfill. Assign employees based on availability, or whatever other attribute you decide. As well, see the immediate impact on a slipping project date.
Instead of sifting through spreadsheets, check your real-time dashboard to immediately understand entire team allocations, resourcing statuses of forthcoming projects, and utilization reports.
Don’t take our word for it though - see it for yourself.
