Bridgit CEO talks construction software with the ConTechTrio
SampLast week, Bridgit’s own Mallorie Brodie joined the ConTechTrio podcast to talk about construction news and punch list technology. Here are the top three topics they discussed:
1. Bridgit is all about research
Before they built any software, our co-founders spoke with hundreds of construction professionals.
As Mallorie explains on the podcast: “We just went on site and started asking questions: ‘What’s frustrating on site? What’s time-consuming? Where are you spending a lot of money…?’” After interviewing 500 project managers and site superintendents, the pair knew where they wanted to start—with a punch list solution.
Today, that solution has grown into a full-fledged construction management app, with users saving time on the punch process, owner walkthroughs, standardized checklists, and even appliance installations.
2. Implementing construction software should be easy
One of our favourite parts of the podcast was when ConTechTrio host, James Benham, challenged Mallorie about setup. “It’s easy to say, ‘Hey, this is easy to do.’ But it’s really hard to prove….” (36:35).
James is completely right: adoption is difficult. Surveys suggest that construction companies are ready to embrace new technologies, but they struggle with how to implement them.
We feel your pain. “The last thing you want to do mid-punch list is to be adding all these contacts, locations, and blueprints to the software to get going,” Mallorie admits. “So that’s something our team handles completely.”
To make sure construction teams get the best experience, our customer support team handles all the setup for you. We’ll upload your drawings, add and configure your contacts, and create any customized reports you’ll need in the project. It takes some extra effort on our part, but it ensures that users get the most out of our app.
3. The future of punch list software
Our app was originally built to save time on punch lists. But that’s just the beginning.
“Punch lists are a frustrating problem, but the real concern is communication,” explains Mallorie (41:10). If we can streamline the communications during the construction process, our software will simplify other processes as well.
This probably isn’t a surprise to Bridgit Field users. Many of you are already using the app for checklists, safety, site analytics, and more. Watch Mallorie’s full response for some hints on how Bridgit Field has moved beyond punch lists, and how we’ll continue to do that in the future.
